Water Quality Testing – Photo of water testing

In 2005 Weiss Lake Improvement Association adopted the Alabama Water Watch water monitoring program.  At one time there were about 30 water testers monitoring water quality at many sites on Weiss Lake.  Over the years this number had dropped to just a few testers monitoring water quality.  Weiss Lake Improvement Association working with Alabama Water Watch and the Coosa River Basin Initiative and local representative Ray Kelley secured water testing kits and sponsored a Water Testing Training Class.  The training class was held at the Cherokee County Chamber of  Commerce on November 12, 2005 with 10 people participating in the class and Ray Kelley as Instructor.  After our classroom training the class went to the Causeway Landing and completed the hands on water testing portion of the class.  Each new water tester is completing water test in different areas of the lake and reporting the results to Alabama Water Watch.  You can check out testing results by visiting

www.alabamawaterwatch.org.  Additional training are being scheduled so if you are interest in this program contact us to register.  Class dates will be available soon.
